Hotel 1000 is the perfect Seattle hotel for exploring the city.
LOCATION
The location is perfect – it’s really close to Pike Place Market so there are lots of restaurants and shops nearby, and a ton of interesting stuff to discover.
It’s a few blocks from the light rail station which connects you to the airport. You can walk from the station to the hotel, or call Uber, and arrive in style.
It’s also within walking distance of Pioneer Square, which is the historic district. Lots of cool shops down here, too. But my favorite thing about this area is the Underground Tour. Originally, this area was much lower and flooded often, so, when a fire destroyed over 30 blocks in the mid 1800’s, the city decided to rebuild on top of the original location. And now you can tour a bit of the old city – underground.
Hotel 1000 is also within walking distance of the football/soccer stadium, and the baseball stadium. If you’re there during soccer season attending a game is a great experience, even if you’re not a huge fan. Soccer isn’t as big in the US as it is in the rest of the world, but you wouldn’t know that based on the fans in Seattle.
You can start by participating in the March to the Match, where fans gather in Pioneer Square and march together to the stadium. There’s singing, and chanting, and a band… you might want to go along even if you’re NOT going to the game!
But if you are, consider getting a seat near the Emerald City Supporters. If get seats directly in their section (the south end general admission sections 121-123), you better go prepared to participate in every chant and crazy antic they think up. If you’re not a participater (I’m not) then find seats near their section and enjoy the show.
THE HOTEL
Hotel 1000 is right in the middle of all of this fabulous activity, but that’s not all it’s got going for it. It’s also super cool.
Housekeeping can push a button to silently detect whether or not someone is in the room. No doorbell ringing, no knock-knock-knock “HOUSEKEEPING!” And no worries if you forget to put the “do not disturb” sign out. (Which I do allll the time, and which is really annoying when you’ve arrived at 2AM and need some sleep!) It uses infrared heat detection to determine if someone’s in the room. Pretty cool, right?
They have a virtual golf room that lets you “play” on the best courses all over the world. My husband didn’t love it, but I thought it was cool. AND if you ask nicely, they’ll let you have a Wii party down there.
But my FAVORITE cool thing is the bathtub. Specifically the way it fills up. There is literally a hole in the ceiling and water just pours out of it right into the tub.
And to make sure you enjoy it, they provide an adorable rubber ducky.
What’s not to love?
